Where To Get Your Protein
Posted on September 12, 2011 by planet1ear
Even though many of us neglect to get enough of it, protein is one of the most important things you can put into your body. Some of us choose not to eat meat, and this is why we do not get enough of it. Others of us do not take the time to consider what we are eating, and this is why we do not get enough protein. And of course, some people really just plain forget to care! Whatever the case, you should realize that it is important that you put protein into your body. Here are some great and easy ways to make sure your body is getting enough.
Of course, the best source of protein is meat. Of course, red meat – in addition to protein – adds a lot of fat and other stuff you might not like. Instead of red meat, think about adding more chicken and fish to your diet. In fact, out of all the foods you could eat, fish is one of the best ones for you!
Nuts are another great source of protein, especially for those who choose not to eat meat, or who just don’t like meat. Nuts, however, should not be eaten in large doses, as nuts are also high in cholesterol.
But there are also plenty of non-traditional sources of protein. You can make your life really easy by getting your fruit and protein at the same time if you add protein powder to a fruit smoothie. You can buy such smoothies at places like Jamba Juice and Smoothie King, or you can even make them at home. There is also the option of protein bars. Some people find that protein bars are not as tasty as protein smoothies, but they are easy to take with you and eat on the go. Grab one on your way out the door, and eat it wherever you are going.
You need to make sure you are giving your body an appropriate amount of protein each day, whether it is coming from nuts, meats, eggs, or other sources. The recommended amount of protein each day is 50 grams, and it sure does not hurt to get more than that. Start making some changes to your diet if you realize that you are not giving your body as much protein as it needs. In the long run, your body will thank you!
